I am new to the site and was reading the posts about my favorite episodes of the season.  I think you nailed the list of my stand out moments as well.  My favorite episode of the season fo far.

This episode was absolutely amazing!!! I loved every little thing about it!

some stand outs:

- Castle calling Beckett and asking her to tell him she needs him

- the way Beckett threatned the robber if he shot Castle (no one messes with Beckett's man)

- the look of sheer desperation when the bank blew up.

-the way Beckett was screaming Castle's name

- the look on BOTH their faces when she saw he was ok and the hand on his shirt!!!

- martha's line "he's not the only one here" gotta love her!

- She went to his HOME!! on her own free will and had dinner with HIS family!! I gotta say she fits right in!!

BRILLIANT BRILLIANT!!!

Having re-watched this episode last night, I now consider Cops/Robbers to be one of the three best ever produced.  Heartbreak, comedy, originality, wonderful acting and real drama.  When I go back over the first four seasons, only 03x24 and 03x13 moved me more.

hey just a small query

do you think castle heard what Kate said to the kidnappers about hunting him down and putting a bullet in his head of he dares shoot the gun?

That is something I have thought a lot about. Could Castle hear Beckett's side of the conversation during any of her phone calls with the mercenary/bankrobber? I think if he did, then the best chance would have been in that part where he is squatting down in Castle's face with the gun at his neck. But I am going to say that Castle couldn't really hear Beckett, and was always "in the dark" about what was going on and working from the reactions of the mercenary/bankrobber.

Agreed. One of the very, very best episodes, and I've watched it a lot (it looms large in my writing project on the series).  One of its strengths is that the crime situation requires Beckett and Castle to work together from a distance,  and to understand each other almost telepathically.  It is triggered by the initial telephone call, and continues almost to the end.   There's a very strong emotional thread that is not just added on here and there, but works directly through the crime and its resolution.  (Just as the viewer wants them to overcome their obstacles and get together in real life, so the viewer wants them to overcome their obstacles and get back together in the bank.) And the family scenes are not just add ons either, they are directly relevant. There is a kind of seamlessness about the episode that makes multiple viewings just more interesting.   The rhythm of the camera work and scenes is brilliant: one really nice thing that appears after multiple viewing is the cutting back and forth between tight internal shots (bank, communications centre) and wider externals (not just the chaotic scenes outside the bank, but the bright airiness of the windows inside the bank).

Did anyone else notice a subtle 'heartbeat' going on in the background of much if this episode? It is especially noticeable up to the "Morse Code" scene, when it builds, then drops back until Martha tells Rick to stop the signalling.

Yes, I noticed it, interesting.

I just rewatched C&R with my daughter and I don't know if someone already mentioned it - there's a typo :-)

It figures that it would take a year to notice a typo/spelling error - and it would be the Euro-Posse to see it first. Congratulations yazz… of the "Eagle Eye Clan." Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

Girlish enthusiasm, run amuck.
